What You Need To Know About Credit Cards

What is a credit card? A credit card is a card that allows you to borrow money to pay for things. There will be a limit to how much you can spend called your credit limit. At the end of each month you can either pay off the whole of the amount you owe or make a minimum repayment. Other kinds of cards include: 1) A cheque guarantee card, issued by your bank, that you can use to ensure that your cheque will be honored up to a certain limit.

2) A chargecard where you have to repay the full amount at the end of each month.

3) A debit card, issued by your bank, where whatever you spend is immediately deducted from your bank account Do you need a credit card? Using a credit card is a useful way of making purchases: a) A credit card means you do not need to carry huge amounts of cash around and risk losing it.

b) A credit card means you can buy items over the internet.

c) A credit card means you can make purchases abroad without having to worry about local currency.

d) A credit card gives the opportunity to spread the cost of a large payment over several months.

e) A credit card is useful in an emergency. For example, an unexpected repair to your house or car.How do you choose a credit card? The main two UK credit card issuers are Visa and Mastercard. These are accepted in most places and in 130 countries worldwide. Beware of less well known brands that may not be accepted everywhere. Before you choose which credit card is the best for you, remember to read the terms and conditions carefully. Never sign up for a credit card without fully understanding what you are agreeing to. Remember that all the plus factors will be prominently displayed in large print. You may have to study the small print carefully to discover if there are any negative factors.
A list of the current cards on offer in summary is available on this credit card summary page. What You Need To Consider: 1) APR (Annual Percent Rate)

This is the rate of interest that you will pay on any outstanding balance. 2) Special Introductory Rates

You may be offered a low or 0% rate of interest for a limited time (Up to 6 months) when you sign up for a new card. A higher rate of interest may be charged for cash withdrawals. 3) Balance Transfer Rate

Card issuers may offer you a lower rate of interest if your swap your balance from another credit card to their. 4) Interest Free period

Remember to check when interest payments will begin. Will you pay interest from the day of the purchase? Or will you have a number of days interest free before you begin to pay? There is usually no interest free period for cash withdrawals. 5) Cashback and Rewards

Some cards over points or rewards for every pound spent on the credit card. Make sure that these are appropriate for you. For example, there & 's no use collecting airmiles if you never fly. 6) Minimum Repayment

Remember to check what the minimum monthly repayment will be. If you borrow £ 1000 on your credit card the monthly minimum repayment will probably be in the region of £ 25. But if you only pay this amount each month it will take a long time to pay off the balance and cost a lot in total when you include the interest payments. 7) Annual Fees

This is the fee that the issuer will charge you every year for using their credit card. Not all credit cards have an annual fee, so remember to consider this when you are choosing which one is right for you. 8) Late Payments

There will be an extra charge, as well as the interest owed, if your payment is late. This charge may even be more than the amount you owe so be very careful to check what the charge is, and to ensure that all your payments are made on time. A good way of doing this is to set up a direct debit from your current account. 9) Exceeding Your Limit

You may also be charged a fee if you exceed your credit limit. Will Your Application Be Accepted? Whether or not your application is successful will depend on your credit rating. Your credit rating depends on your credit history (a record of your use of credit) and is based on the record of your ability to repay debt. You can obtain a copy of your credit file by contacting a credit reference agency. There may be a small fee for this service. When you request has been accepted you will be given a credit limit. The credit limit will be fixed when you first apply for your card (although you can ask for it to be increased or decreased later) and the limit, including the amount you have left available to spend, will be shown on your monthly statement. Insurances and Protection. What You Can Do: 1) Take good care of your credit card to ensure that it is not lost or stolen. 2) To prevent misuse of your card you must report any loss or theft of your card to the issuer immediately. Many issuers allow you to register all your cards with them so that in the event of you losing a purse, handbag or wallet they can all be canceled with just one phone call. 3) You must keep all your receipts and also check your statement carefully and report any suspicious transactions. For example payments that you have no record of making. 4) Credit card companies are now issuing cards with PIN (Personal identification numbers) which are known as Chip and PIN cards. Rather than signing your name you will be asked to enter your PIN onto a keypad. You must ensure that you keep this number secret. What The Issuer Will Do 1) The issuer should insure you against loss, misuse or theft of your card. 2) The issuer may also insure your purchases for up to 100 days. 3) Your issuer may also provide protection against you being sold unsuitable or shoddy goods. Important Points To Remember: a) Credit cards can be a very useful tool to help you manage your finances.

b) Choose your card carefully, remembering to read and understand all the terms and conditions before you sign up.

d) Check your statements carefully each month.

e) Look after your card to prevent it being lost or stolen. For a glossary of the terms stated in this article please visit the credit card glossary page.

How to Win at Online Slots Games

Being a winning slot machine player is impossible. All slot machines are specifically designed in order to give the house a long term edge, so the house will always come out ahead if you play long enough. The only real way to counteract the house edge on slot machine games is to play a game with a really big jackpot, bet the max every time you play, and hope that you hit the jackpot. Then when you do hit the really big jackpot, guess what you do next? Stop playing that game.

Do not get me wrong. I'm not saying that you should not play slot machines. In fact, I think slot games, especially the really good ones, are a lot of fun. But you want to keep in the forefront of your mind that mathematically, what you're doing when you're playing a slot machine on a long term basis is paying for entertainment. You can calculate how much you're paying for that entertainment by multiplying the house edge times your average bet times your number of spins per hour.

For example, if you're playing a slot game with a payout of 95%, then the house edge is 5%. (The casino keeps 5% of every bet you make long term.) And if you're average bet is $ 3, then you're going to pay an average of 15 cents per spin to the house. (5% times $ 3.) Assuming you're making 500 spins per hour, that game costs you $ 75 / hour to play, which may or may not be a reasonable price for you entertainment. That depends on your bankroll.

Something else to factor into your calculation is how much the perks and bonuses you're getting back from the casino are worth. If you're playing in a land-based casino where you're getting free drinks while you play, then you can subtract the cost of those drinks from you're hourly cost. (Or you can add the cost of those drinks to the value of the entertainment you're receiving – it's just a matter of perspective.) My recommendation is to drink top-shelf liquor and premium beers in order to maximize the entertainment value you 're receiving. A Heineken can cost $ 4 a bottle in a nice restaurant. Drink two Heinekens an hour, and you've just lowered what it costs you to play each hour from $ 75 to $ 68.

Slot clubs also give back a percentage of your losses each hour, so definitely be sure you join the casino's slot club and ALWAYS use your card to track your play. There's absolutely no reason not to do this. Casinos also reward their larger slot players with comps like meals, show tickets, and free rooms, which all add up to reduce the amount of money you're spending each hour that you're playing on their machine.

So how to be a winning slot machine player? I'd sum it up by saying know how much it's costing you to play each spin and each hour, take advantage of all the comps and the perks, and go for the big progressive jackpot.

Weight Lifting Vs Body Weight Exercises

For years, there has been a heated debate among fitness enthusiasts over the difference between weight lifting and body weight exercises. One camp argues that resistance from weight training is essential for developing lean muscle mass, while the other side claims that body weight exercises are superior for developing functional strength and conditioning. If you are unsure of which approach is best for you, then consider your goals and go with the training method that suits you best.

There is no question that weight training builds muscle mass and burns calories. For bodybuilders who are interested in packing as much muscle mass as their frame allows, there is no doubt that they can benefit from a solid weight lifting regimen that consists of heavy compound movements. As beneficial as weight training may be, there are some valid arguments against it. For one thing, all weight lifting exercises must be executed with proper form; otherwise, you run the risk of a serious injury. An injury can keep you sidelined and put a hamper on your progress. Dependency is another problem with using free weights. You either have to have access to a gym or own a set of dumbbells and barbells in your garage. You also need to consider what you will do for exercise if you have to travel.

This is where the benefits of body weight exercise come in. It can be done virtually anywhere at any time. There is also a reason body weight calisthenics are used extensively by the military and gymnasts. They develop core and functional strength. Proponents of body weight training believe that weight lifting develops bulky muscles that are purely for aesthetic purposes. Having large muscles may look good, but the extra bulk also makes you slower and hurts your conditioning as well.

So does this mean that body weight exercises are superior? Not exactly. With free weights, you can easily add an extra plate or move on to a heavier dumbbell to increase resistance. With exercises like pushups and squats, there is really no way to increase resistance; you can only add more repetitions. Of course, with an exercise like the pushup, you can make it harder by elevating your feet or changing the position of your arms, but this also changes the muscles that are worked.

The best solution is to mix things up a bit. Work out with weights for several weeks, then switch it up with some body weight exercises for the next several weeks after. This will give your body a feel for different exercises. The debate over which type of exercise is better is a waste of time. They are all exercises and will get you into better shape.

Port Vs Starboard

In the sport of sailing, instead of using the terms right and left, we use Port and Starboard. Port is synonymous with left; Starboard with right. Port is also depicted with the color red and Starboard with green. If you’re into wine, Port is a type of wine and wine is red. If you’re not into wine, an easy way to remember which color is which is to think about which word is shorter and which is longer. Port is shorter than Starboard; Port has 4 letters, Starboard has 9. Red is shorter than green; red has 3 letters, green has 5. Port is short, red is short. Starboard is long, green is long. Left is short, Port is Short. Right is long, Starboard is long. Port, red, left. Starboard, green, right.

Got it? Great!

In sailing, there are many terms that you never hear anywhere else. Port and Starboard are two of the most common terms you’ll hear. Why did sailors centuries ago pick Port and Starboard instead of left and right?

Starboard most likely has its original from Old English term steorbord. Steorbord means the side of the ship which is steered. Steor means steer and bord means the side of the boat. Many boats back then did not have a rudder to steer with. Instead the skipper used an oar. Since most people were right-handed, the skipper would generally place the oar off the side of the boat to their right. Over time, Steorbord morphed into the term we now use for the right side of the sailboat, Starboard.

Port, on the other hand was not commonly used until the 1840s. The term larboard was used. Larboard is a combination of the word lade meaning to load and bord ;meaning the side of the boat. Ladebord meant the side of the boat on which to load which morphed into larboard. In the 1840s, the English’s Royal Navy started using the word Port to refer to the left side of the boat as Larboard was easily confused with Starboard. Since the side of the boat most often used to load stuff on and off when in port was the left side, Port became the obvious choice. Porters would load supplies on the Port side and steering would be done on the Starboard side.

Today, Port and Starboard are synonymous with left and right and used by sailors all over the world.

Does The Apple Wireless Keyboard Replace The iPad Keyboard Bluetooth Enabled?

The Apple iPad is a wonderful machine, but the default virtual keyboard makes word processing–at least for this writer–a bit tedious. Talk about non-ergonomic! There are a number of Bluetooth enabled keyboards out there that web talk says will work on the iPad, but knowing how difficult Apple can make it on non-Apple hardware, I decided on the Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad made by Apple.

This was not the one in the package marked as an iPad keyboard bluetooth enabled containing the dock; this was the older wireless number. The dock works well enough but it makes for an awkward package in your briefcase and I like to move the keyboard around without attachments…why else use a wireless keyboard? Besides, the price was the same.

But one question worried me: Would the virtual keyboard still appear when the Bluetooth keyboard was attached? If it did, it would make for an awkward appearing redundancy and still continue to block out and darken the screen. When asked, two of the Apple specialists at the local BestBuy could not answer the question. A stupid question? Ah, but then this writer harkens back to a time when cursive was still king!

And the answer is… No, it will not appear unless you hit the special key on the Bluetooth keyboard for iPad. The Bluetooth keyboard is smaller than usual and takes some getting used to, but is still head and shoulders better for typing of any volume than the one that appears when summoned on the iPad screen.

There are other issues, of course. Google Docs didn’t want to cooperate with the keyboard and I will probably have to purchase an application specially made for the iPad whether I like it or not. But the answer to the question posed by the title is, yes, the Apple wireless keyboard does replace the virtual default keyboard on the iPad. And, even more important, it is a pleasure to use.

Picnic Ideas – Pack a Picnic From Your Pantry

Summer is on the way. You need to start thinking about being prepared for picnics, especially those times when everyone, at the last minute, cries, “Let’s go on a picnic!” Oh dear. A picnic. Whatever will we take to eat?

There are some things you can do to plan ahead for a picnic. Then, with a few items stocked and a game plan to follow, going on a picnic at the drop of a straw summer hat will be a piece of cake!

Picnic ideas– what to do to plan ahead:

  1. Pack a box or container with all the reusable, plastic dishes and utensils your family needs for a picnic. Don’t forget a knife to cut food, a pitcher for drinks, a can opener, serving utensils, etc.  In your picnic box, you could include an old bed sheet for a table cloth. Twin-size bottom sheets work very well for this, as the elastic corners help it to stay on the picnic table without blowing off. Close up this box when packed and label “picnic.” If you will be using a park BBQ to cook food while out, then pack another box for the utensils needed, including pot holders, and label it also.
  2. Pack a box or two to put in the pantry with nonperishable food items such as: juice, cookies or crackers, pork & beans, canned fruit, canned fish or meat. Tuna in foil packets works well because it doesn’t need to be drained. Chips or pretzels could be included but go easy on these as they don’t deliver much nutrition. If you go somewhere that doesn’t have drinking water available, you could either pack bottled water or take a large water canteen.
  3. Keep some reusable freezer packs in your freezer to avoid having to buy ice at the last minute. They also don’t create the mess that the melting ice does. Keep your picnic cooler clean and in a handy place. Also, freeze some water in small empty yogurt containers, which are not bigger than the mouth of your water canteen. These can be emptied into the canteen to make instant ice water to take on your picnic.

Once you have planned and packed the items above, going on a picnic at the last minute really is a piece of cake. You’ll be ready in only a few minutes to head out the door. No muss, no fuss, no going to the store.

  • Open your clean cooler and put ice packs inside.
  • Throw in whatever you can find in the fridge: apples, carrots, cheese, leftover cooked chicken, etc.
  • Place bread or buns on top.
  • Cover food with a towel and facecloth and close the lid. The towel and facecloth are for washing sticky hands later.
  • Grab your picnic box with all your utensils and dishes in it.
  • Grab your pantry box with the nonperishable food and juices in it.
  • Fill up your large water canteen with the ice cubes you made and some water.

Picnic Ideas: Brainstorm about where to go to enjoy your family picnic:

A picnic can be a fun, inexpensive family activity to do in the summertime. One thing extra you could do to be prepared is make a list of all the places you could possibly go on a picnic. Include your favorite parks and see what else the surrounding area offers. Decide how far away you are willing to travel and then make a list of all the possible picnic places within that area. One fun idea is to make a goal to visit each place once over the summer vacation. Don’t forget to encourage your family to give you input for new and exciting picnic ideas to try for next year.

This has led to a lot e-books on the topic. Many people are writing and selling this info online. Yours truly even wrote and sold one some few years back. We want to examine some of the reasons for the attraction. What is so unique or attractive that many people online are now trying to get a US bank account even if it is a basic one like a savings account?

In answering the question, I want to start by saying the internet has changed nearly everything about the way we live. Gone re the good old day where it was okay to just live within the confines of your geographical locality. Not anymore! Everything has changed, thanks to the internet which has joined us all together to form the so called one global village.

In the past if you had a bank account in your locality, that was enough. Not anymore as you now could easily sell or work all over the world online via the internet. You could now set up a shop online and sell to people all over the world 24 hours a day, seven day a week and 30 days a month, in fact round the year.

With the above scenario, you need a financial system or solution outside of the one in your locality or country. You have now gone international. Here he need for an account with banks and financial institutions outside your country. When then US and not pother countries? The answer is very simple. The vast majority of online companies, those that matters are all based or headquartered in the US. Just take a look at the top 10 web companies from Google, eBay, Amazon, Facebook, Yahoo, all these are US based.

When you are online working, trading or doing business, you want to be working with the companies that matters. They are all based in the US. When it comes to pay you is when you realize the complexity of the whole thing if you do not have a presence or at least a bank account in the US.

Take for instance you sell online and get your card payments via any of the 3rd credit card payment processing companies like ClickBank, 2Checkout.com, Plimus.com, PayPal, SHARE-it.com, you need a US bank account so that you can get your payment fast. They are all based in the US. Also take for instance that you are an Affiliate marketer, most of the Networks too like Amazon.com, Commission Junction, ClickBank, etc. are all US companies.

The difference between obtaining paid via a US bank account or its alternative solutions and the customary method of being sent a check is about an interval of 10 weeks. Incredible, but that is the reality on ground. If you have a US bank account, you are simply going to be paid by what they call direct deposits or ACH (automated clearing house) system.

This method takes just 2-3 days and mostly it is free of charge. But for all the others outside of the US who do not have a US bank account, a check would be cut and processed to you. You get this check in 3-4 weeks depending on your location and then lodge it in with your local bank who again send it back to the US for collection. Remember the checks are drawn on banks in the US and not your local banks. This can take another 3-4 weeks to get back to the US.

In US it goes for clearing, and then if good it is credited to your local bank's Agent or correspondent account in the US. The agent will now pass the credit to your local bank who in turn will credit your account. In all you would be looking at 10 weeks before you can get the money paid you by the US company.

So what is the solution? Get a US bank account if you want to flourish or make money online. Without this you are doomed and would sooner or later quit the net out of frustration. I have a US bank account even as a non resident, what happens is that I am paid by ACH or direct deposits and when in 2-3 days the money hits my US bank account, I simply withdraw from a local ATM in my country using the ATM card that the US bank wave me.

This is the main reason many people online are looking for a US Bank account solution or its alternative. they want to receive the monies from their online endeavors cheaply and in a timely manner. They are other benefits like the savings on clearing your checks which could be in the region of $ 100- $ 150 per check. Add up that if you get 20-30 checks per annual.

With a US bank account it is easy to sell on eBay, and get paid by PayPal. A lot of people in the US (the number one market) online will find it easy paying you and so on. Hope you have seen some of the benefits of a US Bank account for a foreigner or non resident.
