Hand Crank Shortwave Radio

You need to own a hand crank short wave radio. While these shortwave radios may seem to some like novelties, they can save your life in an emergency. A shortwave radio isn’t just some AM/FM radio, it picks up a variety of shortwave radio signals. These can include but aren’t limited to weather stations, news broad casts, and even signals from other parts of the country and the world. While you may not think of these as important, in an emergency, these radios and stations can be your only link to the outside world.

A hand crank short wave radio has many different power options today. What the hand crank does is every time you turn the crank, the mechanical energy is instantly turned into electrical energy, enough to power the radio itself, and even to charge up the rechargeable batteries. Because the cranking technology has improved so much over the last few decades, turning the crank just a few minutes can power the radio continuously for more than two hours without interruption. They can also use batteries, and when there is power, plugged into the wall outlets.

The real purpose of a hand crank shortwave radio is for if you are stranded, whether on land or at sea, or if you are in the middle of some kind of natural or man made disaster. No matter what the situation, chances are there isn’t going to be any electrical power, and any kind of regular electronic device isn’t going to work. This is where the hand crank action comes into play. In many cases, evacuation procedures are going to be announced over short wave radios from emergency services. They may tell you that help is on the way, where to go, and even what to do until help arrives. In the case of flooding, storms, or tornadoes there can be more important information given on how long the storm is going to last, or how much more inclement weather is on the way. Without this vital information, you could be headed for an even more dangerous situation, or even stranded for longer, because you didn’t know where to go or what to do.

It is important that you keep a hand crank shortwave radio in many different places. You should have shortwave radios in your home, vehicle, and if you own an RV or a boat, you should have one in these as well. You just never know where an emergency will strike, and having one at home while you are stranded in the middle of nowhere doesn’t do you any good.

Just as a hand crank shortwave radio can save your life, you also have to buy the right shortwave radios as well. There are many different brands and models of these radios, and they come in a varying prices. While there many different models, not all of them are the same. The first thing you need to think about when choosing one of these radios is what your needs are. If you just want one to listen to music on the go without having to lug around a bunch of batteries, then cheaper models are a decent choice. One of these is the Eton FR 150. This radio is small and compact, and has very minimal options. Because of this, the cost is quite low.

For hand crank shortwave radio options, where you need access to multiples channels, and emergency bands, more expensive shortwave radios are a better option. This is because they have a better quality sound, and are able to pull in more channels and stations. They have better batteries, and their cranking mechanisms last far longer than cheaper models. Even so, a good radio shouldn’t cost you more than fifty to a hundred dollars.

How to Pick the Right Auto Body Repair Shops

Some of the biggest questions people run into deal with the repairing their vehicles. Many times people are confused and don’t know how to go about picking the right auto body shop. What process should I run through in picking the right vehicle repair shop? What questions should I consider?

What value am I getting for my Auto Body Repair?

The most important question in determining what auto body repair shops is: What value am I getting in repairing my vehicle here? Many body shops out there are looking for unsuspecting customers and ways to pad their bottom dollar. A lot of times body shops will offer the lowest price because they know this will attract customers. Unfortunately, from a customer standpoint choosing the lowest price is not always the way to go.

Daniel T., Vice President of National Auto Parts, in Dallas, Texas, concurs that doing this will only create more car issues in the future. “Repairing your vehicle is always about what you get in return. These days, body shops continue to push the limits of their customers to see how much more they can get away with. At this point the body shop knows exactly what they’re doing. Is the customer to know the better?”

What can I do to protect myself?

A solution that’s been picking up a lot of traction recently is hiring a third party to assist you in this area. There are a few good car crash consultants out there that will help you figure out what’s being put on your vehicle and how the vehicle’s being repaired. When looking for a good car crash consultant selecting one that gives you a lot of insight on the repair and product being used is imperative. Using these specialists provides visibility in an area with many questions.

Another way is looking for a detailed report of the work being put into the vehicle and reviewing the warranty the shops offers. When you get into an accident, every insurance gives you an assessment of the damages, take a look at the sheets and read over to see what product they’ve listed for use. Auto Body Shops sporadically will attempt to use cheaper parts to make more money. Requesting the use of what’s listed on your insurance assessment is not unusual and will help protect against this. In regards to warranties, most legitimate body shops will have an extensive warranty and stand by their work.

Where should I look for the body shop?

Driving to the nice plush auto body repair shops off the highway might be convenient, but doing this often drives up the price of the job. “All businesses have costs and are in it to make money. With this assumption, you have to believe any cost a business incurs will be passed onto their consumer,” Daniel says. Hanging off the highway, and looking more in-city gives any prospective client a better chance to keep labor costs low. Prices per hour for labor can vary wildly from $30-$100 for the same type of work. Don’t misunderstand the shop may not look the best, but you can be guaranteed going this route will provide good value.

Holiday on the Isle of Mull

The Isle of Mull off the west coast of Scotland is a popular holiday destination for people from across the world. Whilst some folk come for a day trip, many spend anything from a couple of days to several weeks enjoying island hospitality and exploring the wonderful scenery and wildlife of Mull and its neighboring islands. Mull and Iona have a good range of accommodation from bed and breakfasts to self catering cottages to hotels. There are a number of excellent places to eat offering local produce and the local whiskey must be sampled. Most of the island has single track roads so do check out tips on the best way to drive on these roads before you go.

There are many places to explore on Mull and its surrounding islands and plenty of wildlife, including the magnificent sea eagles, to be seen. Most of the accommodation providers will help people decide what they wish to see and suggest wildlife trips that can be taken. For shorter breaks people often choose to stay in a bed and breakfast where they have the added benefit of their hosts' local knowledge and experience. For those wanting the independence of self-catering information packages are often provided. There is also a Visit Scotland Tourist Information Center in Craignure.

Most people come here by car and will need information about the ferries between Mull and the mainland as well as how to drive on single track roads (always use the passing spaces to allow approaching vehicles to pass and overtaking if the vehicle behind you would like to Pass; and always stay to the left hand side even if that means stopping opposition opposite a space space). Should folk want to leave their cars behind it is possible, with some planning, to get around the island using public transport. For the more energetic visitors bicycles can be hired to explore the island.

Tobermory is a thriving village and is often referred to as the capital of Mull. There are many bed and breakfasts and other types of accommodation to choose from and plenty of choice for eating out. The village has an excellent arts center called An Tobar and the Mull Theater which attracts touring theater companies as well as putting on their own productions. Tobermory also boasts a small but excellent museum which, along with the Ross of Mull Historical Center based in Bunessan, offers useful information for people wanting to research their family history. There is the Tobermory Distillery and a range of different shops to visit also.

Mull and its neighboring islands of Iona, Ulva, Staffa and the Treshnish Isles have some spectacular scenery and, if you get the weather on your side, offer some of the most beautiful places to visit on this planet. Iona is a small island with a rich history and is reached by ferry from the village of Fionnphort down the southwest end of Mull. A visit to the Abbey is essential however the whole island has a calming spiritual atmosphere. If you have time to walk to the northwest of the island you will find some beautiful sandy beaches with more of the unusual pink marble granite that make up this part of Mull and Iona. Another unforgettable experience is a trip to Staffa with its basalt columns, and in the months of April to early August you can combine Staffa with a visit to Lunga (one of the Treshnish Isles) where you can see puffins and many other species of seabird.

Mull itself has a surprising range of different landscapes including dramatic cliffs, sea and inland lochs, beautiful beaches, and mountains including its own munro Ben More. There are also castles to explore. If you like eating out you will be spoiled for choice as there are some good restaurants and cafés offering local produce across the island. The island of Mull is an excellent holiday location for wildlife enthusiasts, bird watchers, walkers, cyclists, geologists and anyone who wants to experience a relaxing, peaceful holiday in a beautiful, unspoilt part of the world.

Headlight Repair and Some Visionary Solutions

Statistics are alarming. Faulty headlights cause a staggering proportion of all the car accidents that happen annually. In fact, the cloudy vision of the man behind the wheel can be attributed more to yellowed and hazy headlights than to the drinks he had. Headlight repair is the pressing need of the hour. For a car without a proper head repair job done on it is a veritable killing machine stalking the roads.

The need for headlight restoration arises due to varied factors. Weather elements like the sun's detrimental UV rays, acid rain, winds and snow can cause havoc with the car's lighting mechanism leading to cracks in the headlights. The plastic headlights that are much in use tend to oxidize and acquire a yellow tinge after serving for only a few years.

In any case, a dirty headlight with a mottled appearance mars your car's looks and does not promise too well for your safety. Complete replacement is an expensive scheme, so a car headlight repair should definitely be on the cards.

If your headlight is just dirty or water has been seen inside it, then you do not need to drag your car all the way to the garage. You can do this car headlight repair job on your own.

To clean the headlamps, you can buy the cheap but efficient headlight repair kit that is found in the market. Most such kits contain a cleaner, which is sufficient for the job at hand. For the water lodged inside, remove the lens and drill a small hole benefit the headlight all the way up to the inner chamber. Remove the water and make the headlight dry with the air-conditioner or a dehumidifier.

For some problems like cracks or holes, there's nothing like plastic resin to fix them. And with the resin being transparent, no one will notice the difference. Evidently, with the headlight repair kit at your disposal, the odd car headlight repair job that crops up will not seem a Herculean task.

If things are grave, then the car headlight repair job would actually involve a replacement. That is not too hard either.

If you have a halogen bulb, then take off the hood, and behind the headlamp you will see a black knob. The bulb is attached to the knob. Unscrew it and replace the bulb. Car headlight repair could not have been any easier.

If your bulb and headlamp are all one piece, unbolt the tiny screws that hold the thin metal band outside the headlamp. Remove the rubber covering around the headlamp and replace it. This is one headlight repair job that would not require you to rush to the garage.
Once in a while, a headlight repair job may come up which would merit a visit to the experts. Do not fret. Advanced headlight restoration techniques will ensure that the car headlight repair job gets over within minutes without burning a hole through your pocket.

Headlight repair is child's play these days. All the more reason not to ignore it.

How to Get Scooter Financing For Good and Bad Credit

With gas prices increasing many Americans are looking to scooters as a way to protect their pockets against the price of gas. While finding a fuel efficient alternative is a good decision, many scooter buyers are not protecting their pockets when it comes to scooter financing.

There are many options available when financing a scooter including credit cards, manufacturer low payment promotions, installment personal loans and financing for bad credit applicants. Educating yourself about the various types of scooter loans is important before you make a financial decision.

Here are some tips for you to follow:

1. Do not shop for a scooter that is too expensive: Today there are scooters that cost as much as $ 9000, but shopping for one of these scooters makes little sense if you can not get approved for financing.

Therefore, it is a good idea to shop online, and at your local bank for a scooter loan before you enter the showroom.

2. Watch out for low payment promotions: Manufacturers often entice you into buying a scooter with low payment promotions which structure payments as low as $ 39 for 2 years.

Low payment promotions look enticing, but are a very bad financial decision for you.

Fundamentally with low payment promotions you are only paying off the interest on your loan each month and very little is going towards the principal on your scooter.

Worse off at the end of the promotion your payment will double and your interest rate could increase to as high as 22.9% annual percentage rate.

3. Get an installment loan: Most low payment promotions mentioned above are on a manufacturer credit card.

Opting to get scooter financing with an installment loan is a much more wise decision.

With an installment loan the lender can not increase your interest rate or payment and your scooter will be paid off at the end of the term.

4. Consider a personal loan: If you walk in your bank and ask for scooter financing the bank may not have such a product.

Therefore you will likely have to ask your bank for a personal loan, which is basically a simple interest installation loan that can be used for recreational items.

A personal loan is a great way to finance your scooter and is much safer than a credit card or low payment manufacturer promotion.

5. Read the fine print: As your parents probably told you make sure you read the fine print before signing any loan document. Definitely do not enter a loan contract that you do not understand.

6. Do not borrow more than you can afford: There is little reason to purchase a scooter to save on gas if you borrow more than you can afford.

Borrowing more than you can afford will put you in a risky financial position. You must consider the cost of insurance, registration, maintenance and gear and choose a scooter that fits your budget.

7. Avoid zero down payments loans: Trying to secure scooter financing with a zero down payment is possible, but may not be the wisest financial decision.

Since scooters depreciate quickly putting money down can help you from being upside down if you wish to sell your scooter in the first 24 months. Putting money down is a wise decision.

In the end, buying a scooter is a great way to hedge against future gas price increases. But making a sold financing decision that gives you a piece of mind is much more important.

Dental Implants – Procedure and Benefits

Dental care treatment has become an absolute necessity for millions of people worldwide; In spite of improvements and advances in dental care and health, people are afflicted by gum disease and tooth decay. Till a few decades ago, bridges and fixing dentures were two main options for treating people with missing, broken or in situations where teeth have to be surgically removed.

Modern day dental care includes dental implants that are replacement teeth roots. An implant can support one or more artificial teeth; The implant is a screw made of titanium that is fixed into the jawbone in place of a tooth root when it fails. They provide a strong foundation or base on which removable or permanent teeth can be fixed to match existing natural teeth.

There are many advantages to dental implants, some of which are:

• Greater comfort – dental implants can help avoid discomfort of fixing and removing dentures.

• Ease of chewing and eating food – dentures do not always fit 100%; With use they become less fitting and chances of slipping out while chewing food are high. With dental implants, this problem is eliminated.

• Better oral health – dental implants do not require other teeth to be modified or adjusted so ensuring that more natural teeth are left unharmed thereby improving dental health and hygiene in the long-term.

• Improvement in appearance – since dental implants are so designed that they fuse with the jawbone; They become permanent and feel like natural teeth.

• Speech improvement – unlike slurring or mumbling sometimes caused by dentures, implants do not slip ensuring better speech and communication.

• More confidence and self esteem – a good smile brings back confidence and a spring in the step.

• Convenience – dentures have to be removed and cleaned everyday; With dental implants this is not necessary at all.

• Durability – dental plates can last a lifetime with proper care and regular dental check-up.

Implant Procedure

Most dental implants can be safely done in the dentist's office under local anesthesia. A slightly more complicated procedure may require hospitalization and intravenous sedation. Every dental implant procedure is different because it involves the patient's preference, the experience of the dental surgeon and the overall need of the situation.

The procedure usually necessitates a three-step process because each stage requires time to heal.

Step 1

This involves placing the dental plate flush into the gum, burying it like the root of a tooth would be. This is to give time for healing and to protect the implant from force. Once the healing period is over, the dental implant is exposed by surgically removing some of the gum covering it. This integration process is known as 'osseointegrate'.

Step 2

In this step, the dental surgeon examines the implant to see if it has integrated successfully into the gum and places a post or 'abutment' which is drilled through the gum. As the area around the gum heals it forms a collar which gives the dentist access to the implant while placing the artificial or prosthetic tooth.

In some cases, steps 1 and 2 are done together within small intervals. The advantage is that it eliminates extra surgical procedure; However this is a decision to be made by the dentist surgeon taking into account the time needed for the implant to heal and integrate.

The time gap between steps 1 and 2 if done at different times can be from a few days up to a couple of weeks.

Step 3

The final step is the fabrication and fixing of the prosthetic tooth or teeth to the integrated dental implants.

Medical or Dental Insurance

Dental plates by and large are not included in dental insurance. Here again, the factors leading to the implant are considered and in some cases, insurance coverage under existing medical plan may be considered by the insurance company. As dental implants are an expensive treatment, it is advisable to consult a good dental surgeon and finds the pros and cons before opting for it.

The Rift Online MMO Review

The Rift is the next generation breaking MMO game that has the potential to overtake World of Warcraft (WoW for short) and change the standard for the MMO gaming world. But I am going to state right now that in no way am I going to mark the score down for using elements from other MMO's since that is the only way MMO's can really change and evolve (for the better).

The Rift is a game similar to WoW, but in all ways better. The graphics are very beautifully done for instance, and actually require you to have a decent graphics card to even play it. Meaning even at the lowest settings, the game looks like something that should be on a PS3 or Xbox 360, something WoW really lacks.

The story behind The Rift is pretty much an uprise against a tyrant who is defeated, then as the coward he is, tries to use a machine that is suppose to harness the magick of dragons, but since you can not harness a dragons powers, it backfires And causes tears in the sky called "Rifts" which can appear anywhere at anytime and change the landscape drastically, along with summoning the undead and other monstrosities to come and kill you.

Some elements of WoW have been used in The Rift, or inspired by it, like the death sequences, though they did change it up a bit. You can either wait and re-spawn in the same spot where you died (which you can only do once per hour), or spawn as a spirit at a shrine and run back to your body, or just spawn right there at the shrine with An hp / mp, and exp penny, just like the penalty in WoW.

The combat mechanics of the game are similar to that of WoW's where you have a skill bar at the bottom of the screen where you place your skills, which are then activated by the 1-0 number keys, all pretty self-explanatory. The Rift also uses a unique combo system I have not seen in another MMO for a long time. When you strike an enemy with a skill, a skull will appear next to the enemies portrait, up to a total of 5-6 skulls, and the more you let those skulls build up, the more damage a skill will do if it utilizes the Skulls. An example would be a rogue finishing skill, you build up the combo skulls and do a finishing skill move and the total amount of your damage is amplified for each skull you have built up (A bit confusing I know).

The tutorial in this game is so-so, just text popping up telling you what to do, and if your someone who is impatient (like me) you will probably skip some important information, which is more of a personal problem than anything else , Moving on.

There are from what I have been told, hundreds of quests, so you will have no trouble keeping yourselves busy. The quests consist mainly of reading some story told by an NPC about the war and what is happening and then having the task of going to kill a certain amount of monsters then returning for an award, the standard for all MMOs' apparently.

There are 7 sub-classes to each main class, which are called souls. I will try to explain this to the best of my ability, but even I did not quite understand it at first either. The souls you use are pretty much your sub-classes. For example if you want to be an rogue assassin you go and absorb the soul of an assassin warrior (a trainer of sorts) and you can have up to 3 souls, meaning you can have 3 sub-classes of one class. For instance all classes have 7 sub-classes meaning you can have up to 3 different souls representing 3 of those sub-classes. Since I am a rogue, I went with assassin, I also absorbed the souls of a Blade Dancer, and a Rift Stalker. This is very confusing so bare with me!

The Rift also has it's own version of a class tree, where for every level, you get a point you can place in your talent tree to make skills stronger and to unlock new skills for said sub-class, remember you can have up to 3 Souls! So you may have to think carefully about where you want to put your points!
Like World of Warcraft The Rift is an open world, where no loading takes place and everything transfers smoothly through environments just like WoW is most known for.

Although for the steep price of $ 50 dollars and a reoccurring $ 15 dollar a month subscription fee I can not say I will be getting this game since I am currently hooked on Dungeons and Dragons Online Unlimited. But for the current price and subscription fee it is a bit more expensive than a regular WoW expansion pack of 20-40 dollars but this game definitely describes the money!

"The Rift" looks very promising for a game still in it's beta testing phase, and I can not wait to see the finished product.

Overall NightmareStudioz gives The Rift a 10 out of 10, and it is highly recommended as an alternative to WoW especially since this game is still in it's beta testing phase and shows such promise, and will no doubtingly overtake WoW as the largest game played in the MMO gaming industry.

This review has been written and brought to you by Cody Sparks Owner of NightmareStudioz.

5 Tips To Choose The Right Health Plan

Most employers offer a health insurance plan to their employees. Since health insurance offers a lot of benefits, most employees opt for it to enjoy the medical benefits. Here are a few things that may help you choose the right health plan.

Out-of-pocket Costs

Nowadays, unlike the past, you can’t sign up for a plan that will cover all of your out-of-pocket costs. Even if you go for the H.M.O plans, you will get the coverage only if you meet a certain deductible.

A high-deductible plan can’t be defined specifically, but it’s a plan that comes with a savings account and a deductible of a minimum of $1,300 or $2,600 for an individual and a family respectively. Aside from this, there are different deductibles that cover your hospital stay, prescriptions or emergency visits.

Moreover, the Affordable Care Act defines how much you will have to pay from your own pocket.

Savings

Based on your paperwork of previous years, you can get a good idea of how much you will have to spend in a medical emergency. For instance, if you can’t afford to pay for minor medical emergencies, a high-deductible plan may not be a good choice for you. In such a situation, you may have to pay for an MRI, or a blood test.

Aside from this, you should think about a health savings account, which may help you offset your out-of-pocket costs. In these accounts, tax-free funds are accumulated. This money will help you in a rainy day. If you are lucky, you may pitch in up to $1000 in your account.

Find out What is Covered

It’s a good idea to figure out the costs that are covered. You won’t have to pay anything from your pocket to bear these costs. The insurance plan will cover costs, such as colonoscopy costs or a flu shot. If you don’t know whether these costs are covered, you should get in touch with the insurance provider.

Save Money

Nowadays, companies are offering quality telemedicine services. These services are included in the health plan or they are offered as an additional benefit. As a matter of fact, these consultations may be a great alternative to an expensive visit to a local doctor or hospital. So, you are going to save a great deal of money down the road. You don’t know when you are going to have a medical emergency.

Be Smart

If you are going to consider a high-deductible plan, make sure you become a smart shopper. This is because your own money will be at stake. If you do some comparisons, you can save a lot as some insurance plans may provide more coverage than the other. Therefore, it’s better to shop around before signing up for a plan.

It won’t be possible to get a definite answer about what a medical emergency going to cost you. Yet, you can find a lot of insurance providers that offer tools on their websites. With these tools, you can find a better option as well.
